Apparently, the days Pirate Captain Samuel has spent at sea have caused him to develop a sailor mouth....either that or this is early evidence that the apple does not fall far from the tree. After dinner today, Sam, Isabella and I played "Go Fish." Here is the play by play:
PCS: Mami, let's play "Go Fish"
Me: Ok, grab the cards (We begin playing)
PCS: Do you have a nine?
Me: Yes...Do you have a Queen?
PCS: No. Go fish...Do you have a five?
Me: Yes...Do you have a three?
PCS: Yes...Do you have a ten?
Me: No...go fish
PCS: God damn it...I didn't want to go fish!
I'm positive he got that phrase from his father.

Questions from Pirate Captain Samuel to Pirate Captain Drake
FYI #1: Pirate Captain Drake is a reference to Don Drake, the principal of Drake High School and the infamous "Home of the Pirates"
FYI#2: Sam has been obsessed with Pirate Captain Drake since July when he found out that an "actual" pirate had visited his home and sat in his patio furniture (I had a meeting with principals over the summer). Almost daily, Sam asks about Pirate Captain Drake and his adventures at sea. Below are some of the questions he normally asks me but, this time, he asked me to "call" Pirate Captain Drake. Since Pirate Captain Drake lives out at sea, has no phone, and only visits land on special ocassions, Sam promptly asked me to videotape him so that Pirate Captain Drake could watch it on the blog. Pirate Captain Samuel is a genius at communication.

Halloween Bonanza -Part 2: The Parade
Saturday morning, Sam and I headed over to Pixie Park for a Halloween parade. It was more of a "walk-around-the-Magnolia-tree" situation but we had a good time anyway. I didn't capture actual footage of said "parade," but I did get some cute shots....
Never one to replace his mother, Sam fell head over heals for this lady. I know she's a bit taller than Sam but he's only four and I'm sure he'll catch up to her one day. He asked her to take a picture with him...It went something like this:
Sam: Hey tall lady?
Tall Lady: Yes?
Sam : Oh, Mami, you go over there. Ok, yeah...Hey tall lady, will you take a picture with me?
Tall Lady: Of course, pirate!

Hawk Camp
Sunday morning, Daddy took Sam on a hike to Hawk Camp. It is over by the Golden Gate Bridge and boasts some beautiful views. In all, the boys hiked about 4.5 miles round trip. Phew!
Before any hiking trip, Sam has a few things he likes to bring along:

Walking stick = check
Compass = check
First aid kit(in backpack) = check

Halloween Bonanza - Part 1: The Patch
Ever since Sam turned two, I have fallen in love with pumkin patches. I'm not sure why I love them, I just do. Anyhow, on Sunday, we decided to go to our local pumkin patch. Sam had a chance to drive a wagon, ride on a huge slide, and pick some pumpkins.
The picture below is the garden made by the "Women of St. Vincent's":
Here is our courtesy sibling shot...You'll notice that each of them went from mild interest to zero interest pretty quickly:

In order to get some pumpkins, we made Sam perform some wagon duty. We figured Izzy B weighs slightly more than a pumpkin so Sam would be more than prepared for hauling them later:

Goblin Jamboree
In the spirit of Halloween, Sam and I headed over to the Bay Area Discovery Museum for some spooky fun. The museum converts itself into a fun-filled Halloween fest where kids can earn prizes and wear their Halloween costumes. Sam, of course, donned his pirate costume and became known as Pirate Captain Samuel.
While on land, PCS participated in some physical activity to loosen up his sea legs...
Although he fights the scurvy pirates at sea, he indulged this witch in a race to the finish:
After beating the witch at her racing game, PCS decided to bowl upon the grave of Frank N. Stein:
He also took a couple of puts on the "green":
Because of his new encounters with witches and goblins, Pirate Captain Samuel decided to go to "Witch's School" and learn about magic potions:
He graduated suma cum laude and got to wear this hat:
Ever the watchful pirate, Pirate Captain Samuel took a moment to look back on his ship in the San Francisco Bay:
Because Pirate Captain Samuel has two identities, his friend Ben, who also possesses an alter ego, came upon the ship as Robin, the caped-crusader:
Here is the caped crusader showing off his muscles....
In what was perhaps the most gentle moment of the day, Pirate Captain Samuel and Robin petted a few animals with one finger only. Apparently, their listening abilities are heigtened when in costume:
This moment was short-lived however, as, later in the day, they beat up on "Clo," as in "Clo the Cow" from Clover Stronetta Farms Dairy by poking and prodding at her generous middle:
Upon entering the "Haunted Cove," Pirate Captain Samuel was happy to see a fellow pirate:
PCS and Robin found a beautiful maiden, Miss Ella:
They decided to take a spin together on a train ride...
In order to keep up with their duties, PCS and Robin shared some lunch with fellow land-lovers:
After chowing down, Pirate Captain Samuel and Robin found friends from school: Bella, Ella and Sadie. Together, the five of them rode the twirling pumkin with Papa Jason (who, by the way, gets a virtual high five for riding the twirling pumpkin not once, but twice, and smiling through my quick nomination process to have him ride the pumpkin instead of moi)
Once his land legs were well exercised, Pirate Captain Samuel returned to his ship and prepared for his next voyage at sea. The End.
