Easter Mayhem 2011

This Easter was considerably better than last Easter. To begin with, Izzy didn't cry while I put on her Easter outfit. As a matter of fact, she wanted to wear it. Clearly, that was already some sort of miracle. Second, both of them enjoyed mass with their friends at our new church. And, last, Izzy walked around all morning (yes, even on our way to church) with the gift the Easter bunny brought her:

Said gift on display before the kids sank their hands into my creation:

As usual, I tried to photograph our children on this special day. And, as usual, it didn't work out.

Here they are, keeping their distance:

Getting warmer:

Sending mixed signals...

Very serious:

Total avoidance:

I did manage to get some candids as they scavenged the Peluso backyard during our second annual egg hunt. They got some serious loot.

Jedi Party #3

Some of Sam's buddies couldn't make it to his Lego party so we had a play date with all of them once we got back from Spring Break. Here they are, traversing the forest that is our backyard in getting into mischief....

Darth Vader Gets Domesticated

On Sam's actually birthday, Nana and Abuelita came to visit. So, we had another Star Wars party. Good times. This time, I took an easy route and made cupcakes with chocolate frosting and used the decorations from Williams-Sonoma to decorate. Nana gave Sam a Darth Vader costume which has been worn almost every day since he got it. Here, Darth Vader decorates his cupcakes:

This picture cracks me up....Although Darth Vader is decorating his cupcakes, his battle tools are never far away.....

Crazy cupcake face:

Darth Vader's Nana and Abue....

Ain't No Party Like a Star Wars Party

Sam is obsessed with two things in life: Star Wars and Legos. He's never seen the movies because he gets too scared but, apparently, he knows the entire story line. Regardless, this year, he asked for his birthday party to be Star Wars themed. I obliged on not one, but two fronts...We had a Star Wars Lego party! I'm brilliant.

Hence, Star Wars cookies:

The Lego Jedi:

Jedi relatives:

Lightsaber cupcakes:

A Star Wars party is not complete without a visit from the dark side. Alas, Darth Vader (also know as our neightbor, Michael) appeared. There is footage of the battle that ensued between the dark side and the many Jedi from the good side but that will be posted later. For now, enjoy the still photgraphy:
